Partly because it was late and we were just simply worn out from the day's activities, and partly because we were for the most part, a reckless bunch. We slid by a half submerged dredging barge that had drifted into the channel. A few feet closer and we would have surely been the subject of the morning news. We realized later on that day we had narrowly escaped disaster.
